Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes
Annual Town Meeting
Hanson Middle School
May 1, 2006
Present: Christopher Colclough , Mark Gallivan, Jesse McSweeney and James Egan. Also present Town Administrator Michael Finglas, Executive Assistant Meredith Marini and Town Counsel Greg Corbo.
7:09 p.m. Chairman Gallivan called the meeting to order.
Item I - Town Meeting – The Board discussed the School’s Capital improvement article for improvements to the Maquan Elementary School. The Board concurred it would recommend passing over.
Item II – Fire Chief – Ambulance – The Board was informed the Fire Chief would be considering funding for the ambulance. Funding would come from Ambulance receipts. Mr. Finglas informed the Board that there was no money was left in ambulance receipts.
MOTION by McSweeney, second by Egan to recess to Town Meeting. Voted 4 – 0
7:19 p.m. Recessed to Town Meeting
10:55 p.m. Reconvened.
Item III School Budget – Town meeting approved the School Committees amendment to fund an additional $288,756.00 subject to a proposition 2 ½ override election.
MOTION by Gallivan, second by McSweeney to hold a special election on Saturday, June 10, 2006 in the Maquan School Cafetorium. Polling hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and to place the following question on the ballot:
“Shall the Town of Hanson be allowed to assess an additional $288,756.00 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purpose of funding the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District PreK-12 assessment for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2006?”
Voted 4 – 0
MOTION by McSweeney, second Egan to adjourn. Voted 4 – 0
